The Journal

Editorial policy

The Journal is a personal publication with professional standards. This page explains how it is written, sourced, disclosed and corrected.

Who writes here

Every essay in The Journal is written by Dr. Ashvini Sundararaju unless a piece names another contributor. Where a subject falls outside my training, I say so plainly and point to someone qualified.

Experience first

I write about what I have lived, pageant stages, lecture halls, photo sets and long saree drapes. When something is a personal preference rather than a general recommendation, the essay says so in the text, not in fine print.

Sourcing

Factual claims about health, skin, finance or law are attributed to a named source and linked at the end of the piece. I do not present opinion as research, and I do not cite sources I have not read.

Disclosure

Gifted products, sponsored collaborations and affiliate arrangements are labelled at the top of the article. A gift never buys a positive review, and I decline collaborations I would not use myself.

Beauty, health and money

Nothing here is medical, dermatological, legal or financial advice. My doctorate is in finance, not medicine, and even in finance these essays are reflections rather than personalised guidance. Please consult a qualified professional for your own situation.

Images and credits

Photographs are from my own shoots and appearances. Photographers, designers, stylists and brands are credited where the information is available to me. If a credit is missing or wrong, write to me and I will correct it.

Artificial intelligence

Essays are written by me. Tools may help with spelling, formatting or structuring an outline, but no article is generated wholesale by a machine and published under my name.

Updates and corrections

Substantive updates are shown with an updated date on the article. Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed, and significant corrections are noted in the piece itself rather than removed quietly.

Questions, corrections or collaboration enquiries are welcome through the contact page.
